Woom Integrated Midwifery

Woom Midwifery builds a bridge between the midwifery model of care and the medical world.

Woom midwives recognize that home birth may not be an option for everyone.  Integrative midwifery offers a way to experience the care and guidance of a midwife while having concurrent OB visits for your planned hospital birth.  We proudly offer this hybrid model to support the birth you desire with the providers you connect with.

How it works

Integrated Midwifery Care compliments your regular OB appointments. We offer prenatal care in your home or our office, devise a birth plan together and labor with you at home for as long as possible, monitoring you medically. After the birth we establish postpartum care in your home for six weeks.

What to expect during prenatal care

  • Clinical assessment of both mother and baby

  • Specific lab tests and blood work

  • Genetic Testing

  • Gestational Diabetes Screening

  • GBS testing

  • Nutrition and exercise counseling

  • Pregnancy, birth and postpartum education and referrals

  • Birth plan templates

  • Essential hospital bag packing list

what to expect during the birth

Labor at home with ease!  We will monitor mother and baby during the time we are together at home.  This includes checking fetal heart tones, assessing blood pressure, temperature and pulse, as well as determining cervical dilation if you choose. We decide together when it is time to make our way to the hospital for the birth.  We support you and your team under the care of your chosen OB and will remain by your side as your labor companion. We advocate on behalf of your wishes and aide in communicating with medical staff.  We stay an additional 1-2 hours post birth to help with transitioning, bonding and breastfeeding.

The current medical model discharges a new mother from the hospital after 48 hours and she is not scheduled to see her OB for six weeks.  This lack of care can contribute to postpartum depression, poor recovery and stress.

Integrative Midwifery postpartum visits are scheduled at day one, day three, 1 week, 2 week, 4 week and the final 6 week visit is in our office.

With Hannah as my Integrated midwife, I felt educated, protected, comfortable and I had a peaceful and wonderful drug free birth.  I was in good hands.
